Drinkwater is in Nederland erg goedkoop en ondanks een toegenomen milieubewustzijn bestaat er weinig motivatie om minder water te gebruiken. Een uitzondering zijn de algemeen toegepaste toiletreservoirs met waterbesparende spoelknop of spoelonderbreker.<\/p>\n

Kosten<\/strong>
\nDoor extra gebruik en meer periodes van droogte vragen drinkwaterbedrijven om bewustwording en besparing. De politiek is terughoudend met prijsverhogingen, omdat water een basisvoorziening is en men lage inkomens wil ontzien. Deze argumenten gelden echter ook bij energiebelastingen en brandstofaccijnzen. Net als in Belgi\u00eb zou een basisgebruik kunnen worden vrijgesteld van verhoging. 1000 liter drinkwater kost in Nederland ongeveer \u20ac 1,40 tegenover \u20ac 2,- tot \u20ac 8,- in Belgi\u00eb.<\/p>\n

Basisgebruik<\/strong>
\nHet drinkwatergebruik in Nederland is ongeveer 45 m3 per persoon per jaar en 100 m3 per jaar voor een huishouden. Het meeste water wordt gebruikt voor douchen en toiletspoeling. Slechts 2 procent wordt echt geconsumeerd. In Belgi\u00eb ligt het gebruik ongeveer 33 % lager. Een basisgebruik van 30 m3 per persoon lijkt redelijk.<\/p>\n

Gebruikersgedrag<\/strong>
\nDe grootste besparing kan worden bereikt door een aangepast gebruikersgedrag. Mensen met een camper of caravan weten dat een voorraad van 100 liter water voldoende kan zijn voor vele dagen gebruik. Tijdens het tandenpoetsen, scheren, handenwassen en spoelen wordt de kraan ten dele geopend en tussendoor zo veel mogelijk gesloten. Met een afsluiter wordt de douche zonder temperatuurverstelling onderbroken tijdens het inzepen. De waterbesparende kranen en douches worden thuis vaak niet wenselijk geacht, net zo min als de zuinige gewoonten tijdens de vakantie.<\/p>\n

Besparingen<\/strong>
\nEen belangrijke besparing kan worden bereikt met een regenwatersysteem voor toiletspoeling, tuinbesproeiing en eventueel de wasmachine. Dit wordt in Belgi\u00eb gestimuleerd door de hogere waterprijzen, verplichtingen en subsidies. In Nederland is de toepassing nog beperkt tot milieubewuste (en bemiddelde) opdrachtgevers, maar een toename mag worden verwacht. Verdere besparingen zijn mogelijk met een regenton, gebruik van de autowasstraat, zuinige vaatwassers en wasmachines en toch weer even installatietechnisch; een lokale close-in boiler of heetwaterkraan met een korte wachttijd voor warmtapwater.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
