In de meeste nieuwbouwwoningen wordt de ventilatie tegenwoordig met een warmteterugwinning (WTW) ventilatie unit ingevuld. Hierbij is echter wel een aandachtspunt in het ontwerpen van deze installaties!<br \/>\nAfzuiging van afvoerlucht uit de woning vindt vooral plaats in de natte ruimtes, ofwel de toiletten, keuken en badkamers. Inblaas van toevoerlucht vind meestal plaats in de woonkamer en slaapkamers. Om de balansventilatie goed te laten werken zal de toevoerlucht van de woonkamer en slaapkamers moeten kunnen overstromen naar de ruimtes met afzuiging. Hiervoor wordt vaak onder de deur van deze ruimte een spleethoogte gehouden. Deze afstemming wordt helaas nog wel eens vergeten bij de nieuwbouw van woningen.<br \/>\nOok bij grotere slaapkamers kan het zomaar voorkomen dat de hoeveelheid toevoerlucht dermate hoog wordt dat er een ongewenste spleethoogte ontstaat van bijvoorbeeld 25-30 mm, waar eerder gedacht kan worden aan een overstroom via akoestische slang door de muur en overstroom via licht armaturen. Dit brengt echter een extra stuk afstemming met zich mee, wat wederom in de praktijk zomaar eens vergeten wordt.<br \/>\nMaar niet alleen in woningen komt dit probleem voor, ook in kantoren is het aan de orde van de dag. Hier vindt inblaas van verse toevoerlucht meestal plaats in de verblijfsruimten, waar ook de lucht, of een deel hiervan, overstroomd richting andere ruimtes.
