Wellicht ook niet geheel onterecht, want veel van deze koudemiddelen zijn sterke broeikasgassen of PFAS. R410A (GWP 2.088) wordt inmiddels al stapsgewijs uitgewisseld voor R32 (GWP 675) of, wanneer mogelijk, voor natuurlijke koudemiddelen zoals propaan (R290 - GWP 3). De voorkeur voor fabrikanten van multi-split systemen lijkt echter, zolang het mag, nog steeds R410A te zijn. Wat wellicht ook deels te maken heeft met lagere rendementen (en vervolgens ook weer meer uitstoot door een hoger verbruik) of door explosie en\/of brandgevaar bij gebruik van andere koudemiddelen.<br \/>\nGelukkig zijn de systemen waarin deze koudemiddelen zich bevinden gesloten systemen en komen de koudemiddelen bij normale werking niet in de atmosfeer terecht. Maar doordat er steeds meer warmtepompen en airco\u2019s geplaatst worden, neemt de opgestelde hoeveelheid koudemiddelen toch toe. Een storm kan zomaar zorgen dat een systeem lek raakt. Of er wordt bij (zelf)sloop van een gebouw geen rekening gehouden met de aanwezigheid van koudemiddelen in installaties.<br \/>\nDaarom ligt hier nu al een taak om extra voorlichting te geven: ook zelf ontmantelde monoblock warmtepompen zullen in de toekomst correct afgevoerd moeten worden. Want het foutief afvoeren van deze producten kan het door maatregelen verkregen milieuvoordeel een heel stuk beperken.<br \/>\nWellicht is er te mild ingezet op nieuwe regelgeving. Door de tussenstap van R32 komt er een generatie aan producten op de markt die mogelijk eerst een productcyclus door zullen gaan.
