Voor het onderzoek werd een steekproef van 300.000 Europese huizen gebruikt, waarvan ongeveer 47.000 Nederlandse woningen. Hieruit bleek dat Italiaanse en Spaanse huishoudens de grootste toename in warmteverbruik hadden (respectievelijk 22,4% en 22,2%). Zweedse (5,7%), Deense (5,3%) en Luxemburgse (4,6%) huishoudens hadden de kleinste toename. In heel Europa was er dus een toename in het warmteverbruik overdag. En dat terwijl het deze winter gemiddeld 0,6\u00b0C warmer was dan vorige winter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Verwarming en koelen van gebouwen en de industrie zijn goed voor de helft van het energiegebruik van Europa. Daarmee is het de grootste eindgebruiker op het gebied van energie. Verwarming en warm water zijn goed voor ongeveer driekwart van het energiegebruik van een huishouden. Twee derde van de energie die wordt gebruikt voor verwarming, koelen en warm water in woningen is nog steeds afkomstig van fossiele brandstoffen.<br \/>\n\u201cHet afgelopen jaar heeft er een enorme verschuiving plaatsgevonden van werken op kantoor naar thuiswerken, wat een aanzienlijke impact heeft gehad op de kosten voor verwarming en warm water\u201d, zegt Christian Deilmann, medeoprichter van slimme thermostaat aanbieder tado\u00b0, dat het onderzoek liet uitvoeren. \u201cHet goede nieuws is dat er technologie\u00ebn zijn die de energie-effici\u00ebntie in huizen verbeteren. Hierdoor kunnen mensen geld besparen \u00e9n hun huizen comfortabel en warm houden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thermostaat een graad lager<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u201cEr zijn veel kosteneffectieve manieren om geld te besparen op verwarming en warm water\u201d, vervolgt Deilmann. \u201cDoor de thermostaat een graad lager te zetten, kan een gemiddeld huishouden ongeveer \u20ac69 per jaar besparen. En door verwarming en warm water alleen te gebruiken wanneer nodig, bespaar je nog veel meer. Een slimme thermostaat kan ervoor zorgen dat alleen huizen en kamers waar mensen zijn worden verwarmd, zodat je niet voor niks stookt. Daarnaast kun je nog meer besparen dankzij features als Aanpassing aan Weersvoorspellingen en Open Raam Detectie.
