De gespecialiseerde groothandel is nog steeds dominant, maar het 3-staps distributiemodel (fabrikant - groothandelaar - installateur) staat onder druk. Dit komt niet zozeer door de opkomst van online aanbieders, maar juist fabrikanten lijken hun slag te slaan. In sommige landen, zoals het Verenigd Koninkrijk, besteden de installateurs al 17% van hun portemonnee aan producten die rechtstreeks bij fabrikanten vandaan komen.<\/p>\n<p>Dit kan nog steeds betekenen dat facturering en levering via de groothandel plaatsvinden (om kanaalconflicten te voorkomen en een soepel bezorg- en betalingsproces te garanderen), maar het belangrijkste is dat installateurs in direct contact staan met de fabrikanten. Ongeveer de helft van de Europese installateurs bestelt rechtstreeks bij fabrikanten.
