Coen van de Sande heeft er wel oren naar. Volgens de Association Manager van de VFK kan er zonder probleem al 20% waterstof worden bijgemengd in het bestaande gasnet waardoor de meeste bestaande ketels gewoon kunnen blijven functioneren en de CO2 uitstoot van de gebouwde omgeving met 15% wordt verlaagd. Een slimme en snelle oplossing voor de bestaande huizenvoorraad, aldus Van de Sande.<\/p>\n

\u201cBestaande cv-ketels ombouwen naar 100% waterstof is technisch mogelijk, maar voor de bulk te complex en te duur. Het is beter om vanaf een bepaald moment in de nabije toekomst alleen nog cv-ketels op de markt te brengen die geschikt zijn voor zowel aardgas als waterstof. Op het moment dat een bepaalde wijk is ingepland om over te stappen op 100% waterstof, gaat het slechts om een kleine aanpassing. Die klus is zo geklaard, we hebben het over minutenwerk.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDe kosten voor ketels of hybride toestellen die geschikt zijn voor waterstof zullen in eerste instantie hoger zijn dan de conventionele HR-toestellen. Dit komt doordat we aan het begin van een productontwikkelingscyclus zitten. Als de waterstofketel eenmaal verder ontwikkeld is en fabrikanten grote aantallen op de markt kunnen afzetten, zullen de prijzen automatisch gaan dalen.\u201d<\/p>\n
