Door losse contacten, schade aan bekabeling, stekkers of verbindingen, ontstaan vlambogen die leiden tot warmteontwikkeling en uiteindelijk tot brand. Standaard aardlekschakelaars en installatieautomaten schakelen vaak niet af bij vlambogen. Sinds dit jaar wordt dan ook in de NEN1010-norm vlamboogbeveiliging aanbevolen voor elektrische installaties. Uit oogpunt van bescherming van consumenten adviseert powermanagementbedrijf Eaton de installateur om de veiligheidskloof te dichten en vlamboogbeveiliging standaard op te nemen in de woonhuisinstallatie.<\/p>\n<p>In Duitsland is vlamboogbeveiliging al verplicht voor elke elektrische installatie. In Nederland wordt in de nieuwe NEN 1010-norm vlamboogbeveiliging voor elektrotechnische laagspanningsinstallaties in woningen, gebouwen en infrastructuur aanbevolen. Met ingang van 1 januari 2017 zijn alle veiligheidsbepalingen van de nieuwe NEN 1010 aangewezen in het Bouwbesluit 2012. Artikel 421.7 geeft een aanbeveling voor het treffen van wat wordt genoemd een bijzondere maatregel tegen de effecten van vlambogen. Daarin zijn toestellen voor vlamboogdetectie (Arc Fault Detection Devices &#8211; AFDD) aanbevolen in eindgroepen voor onder meer \u2018verblijfsobjecten met slaapgelegenheid\u2019, zoals woningen, kinderdagverblijven, zorgwoningen en ziekenhuizen. Volgens Eaton zouden installateurs die aanbeveling zeer serieus moeten nemen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aardlekschakelaars zijn niet voldoende<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>\u201cVlambogen kunnen snel en ongemerkt ontstaan\u201d, zegt Wendy van der Aa, Segment Manager Residentieel bij Eaton. \u201cEr hoeft maar een onvoldoende vast contact of een losgetrild contact te zijn. Maar ook beknelde bedrading, een muis die aan de bedrading knaagt, de bewoner die met een spijker of schroef de isolatie van een stroomdraad geraakt heeft, een verouderde installatie: de elektrische infrastructuur raakt beschadigd. Daardoor ontstaat kortsluiting en kan brand het gevolg zijn. Het gebeurt dagelijks en overal en de gevolgen in persoonlijke en financi\u00eble zin kunnen enorm zijn.\u201d<br \/>\nAardlekschakelaars en installatieautomaten zijn al decennia verplicht om het risico op brand in de elektrische installatie te verkleinen. Maar aardlekschakelaars en installatieautomaten zijn veelal niet in staat om seri\u00eble of parallelle vlambogen te detecteren. Het gaat om lage stroom vonkontladingen die meestal onder de nominale afschakelstroom van de installatieautomaat blijven. De automaat zal dan ook in de meeste gevallen niet afschakelen. Die gevolgen zijn eenvoudig en tegen lage kosten te voorkomen. Van der Aa: \u201cEen goede vlamboogbeveiliging kost maar een paar cent per eindgroep per dag. Een kleine prijs voor zo\u2019n belangrijke bescherming!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directe detectie van vlambogen<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Van der Aa: \u201cHet is duidelijk dat gebruik van vlamboogdetectie zal bijdragen om het brandrisico op significante wijze terug te dringen. Dat verhoogt de veiligheid van de consument\u201d. Eaton heeft onlangs een nieuwe beveiligingscomponent voor vlamboogdetectie (AFDD+) ge\u00efntroduceerd. Naast de vlamboogdetectie functionaliteit, heeft de AFDD+ ook de functies van een aardlekschakelaar, een kortsluit- en een overstroombeveiliging. De AFDD+ is daardoor een betaalbare, robuuste en betrouwbare alles-in-\u00e9\u00e9n oplossing die aan alle normen voldoet en eenvoudig te installeren is.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LiveSafe<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Met de speciale campagne LiveSafe vraagt Eaton aandacht voor vlamboogdetectie en bescherming tegen brand.
