Doekle Terpstra, voorzitter van Uneto-VNI maar in dit geval spreekbuis van Techniekpact Nederland, waarschuwde in de landelijke ochtendkrant dat \u201cwe de mensen niet hebben om de klimaatdoelen van Parijs te halen als een volgend kabinet niet meer investeert in het techniekonderwijs\u201d. Bijna gelijktijdig meldt opleidingsinstituut ROVC dat 22 procent van de organisaties in de technische branche jaarlijks drie tot vijf vacatures heeft. Een kwart geeft aan minstens een half jaar tot een jaar nodig te hebben om een technische functie in te vullen.<\/p>\n<p>Techniekpact is een samenwerking tussen overheid, bedrijfsleven en scholen om meer leerlingen en studenten enthousiast te krijgen voor een technische opleiding. Terpstra is hiervan \u2018aanjager\u2019. Hij constateert een gebrek aan leerlingen en een schreeuwend tekort aan docenten bij de technische opleidingen. Bovendien beschikken de opleidingen niet over de middelen om les te geven in nieuwe technieken (die nodig zijn om de klimaatdoelen te halen) en zijn oudere docenten vaak onvoldoende onderlegd in deze technieken om goed les te kunnen geven.<\/p>\n<p>Nu al is er onvoldoende instroom van jongeren in de technische branches. Uit een recent uitgevoerd onderzoek van ROVC blijkt overigens dat er best mensen solliciteren op technische vacatures maar dat deze onbekwaam zijn. Zo vindt 36 procent van de ge\u00ebnqu\u00eateerde technische bedrijven dit ergernis nummer \u00e9\u00e9n. John Huizing, algemeen directeur bij ROVC, vindt dat bedrijven dit juist als een kans moeten zien: \u201cBlijkbaar zijn er veel mensen die in de techniek willen werken, zonder dat ze de juiste opleiding hebben gevolgd of werkervaring hebben opgedaan. Met een andere mindset van werkgevers kunnen vacatures sneller worden ingevuld. Selecteer sollicitanten bijvoorbeeld op motivatie en breng de aanwezige competenties in kaart.
